New Conference: International Virtualization Conference (Nov 14-15, 2006)

LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place in Köln (Cologne), Germany, from November 14 16, 2006. The event will show applications and solutions for deploying Open Source in an enterprise environment and host the first edition of the International Virtualization Conference on November 14 and 15.

About 100 exhibitors, among them well-known vendors like Sybase, Sun, Red Hat, Unisys, Levanta, VMware, Kaspersky Labs and Hitachi Data Systems will demonstrate how to use Open Source solutions in order to optimize business processes in the enterprise IT.

Dr. Barbara Held from the European Commissions Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry will deliver the opening keynote of the trade show and conference.

The International Virtualization Conference will cover all relevant aspects of virtualization from foundation technologies and platforms (hardware and software), management tools and services as well as storage and networks up to innovative solution approaches.

By combining trade fair, conferences, special showcases and dedicated forums, visitors can tailor their individual information package. The conference and public keynotes to be delivered by international speakers will offer a well-founded transfer of expert knowledge. Special showcases like the Virtualization Park, Linux in the Office and the .org Pavilion are enabling a targeted search for solutions to visitors, e.g. for medium-sized companies. Dedicated forums focusing on Open Source in Administration and Government Agencies, and Open Source for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises will offer customized know-how.

International Virtualization Conference
For IT decision-makers, the subject of virtualization is gaining more and more importance. By using virtual system architectures, companies are able to optimize their IT infrastructure and save costs while designing their business processes more efficiently. The First International Virtualization Conference will provide a cross-platform overview on available technologies and solution approaches as well as an outlook on future innovations.

The speaker line-up features international experts like Steven Hand, Lead Architect of Xen, Elsie Wahlig, AMD Fellow in AMD´s Microprocessor Solution Center, Jim Rymarczyk, IBM Fellow and Chief Virtualization Technologist, Serguei Beloussov, Chairman and CEO of SWsoft, as well as Dr. Stephen Herrod, Vice President Technology, VMware. In cooperation with the trade press magazine Linux Magazin, this conference will also be presented as a virtual conference on the Internet, thus enabling a smooth participation to international experts.

LinuxWorld Conference
The well-known LinuxWorld Conference offers an interesting mix of case studies, technical talks and strategic analysis to its visitors. Jon maddog Hall, Linux International, Dirk Hohndel, Director of Linux and Open Source Strategy, Intel Corp. as well as Peter Pflging from the City of Vienna, will be among the keynote speakers. One of the conference tracks, the Enterprise Day, has been specifically designed for business decision makers and will provide information on efficiently deploying open IT structures in the enterprise. The track offers case studies and business-relevant talks. Subjects of the talks include the successful migration to a Linux terminal solution at German retailer Karstadt and Linux solutions for the engineering industry. Further conference tracks focus on IT Security, Systems Consolidation, Systems Management and Desktop Linux. The conference will also host Training Sessions, Linux Classrooms as well as .org Meetings.
