SoftScan has added email archiving to its hosted email security service. This new functionality will enable organisations to securely store inbound and outbound email messages according to company policy, demonstrating compliance with industry and government regulations and providing improved email management.
SoftScan's archiving service can be set to archive all emails or only clean emails, eliminating those rejected as spam, virus or against company policy, reducing storage overheads. In addition, SoftScan only stores one copy and any attachments of the original message, regardless of how many recipients there are, lowering storage costs even further.
In the archive zone, all emails are encrypted using a 256 bit key. Complete confidentiality is guaranteed as the messages are received in plain text and then automatically compressed and encrypted. SoftScan never sees the message and the encrypted email can only be opened by the user's private key. In addition, although administrators can generally configure SoftScan to suit company email retention policies, only written confirmation from a company executive will allow deletion of any emails outside of these policies.
